Skinny chips do not make you thinner

Are you the perfect healthy weight? If so, congratulations, you are in the minority.
Over the past two decades in Ireland alone levels of overweight and obesity have doubled.
Six out of ten adults and one in four children are now overweight or obese. That’s a whole lot of excess fat. And it’s one of the biggest health challenges facing the country.
Not fitting into your favourite clothes is not the only drawback of being overweight.
The reality is our collective waistlines are now one of the biggest public health challenges ahead. The obesity epidemic is leading to an increase in chronic diseases. Heart disease, type 2 diabetes, breathing problems and an increasing number of cancers are some of the diseases linked to weight.
The reasons behind the obesity epidemic are not simple.
But it is acknowledged that making the right food and drink choices is a very good start in the fight against the bulge.
It’s not always easy to make the right choices. A wolf in sheep’s clothing isn’t a danger isolated to fairy tales.
